Sound Composition / Performance / Speakers / Headphones
Ornaments is sound composition and performance commission for Bombas Gens Art Center in Valencia. The project aims to create a soundtrack for the exhibition "Ornament = Delicte" curated by Nuria Enguita. The collective exhibition unites under the same roof a wide variety of paintings, photography, sculpture and installation taken from the Per Amor a l'Art Foundation.
The exhibition focuses on abstract painting and photography. The soundtrack composed by Edu Comelles with the collaboration of Avelino Saavedra features 4 pieces three to be listened through headphones and one played live.
Each composition it is site specific and has been inspired by the artists featured in each of the four rooms of the show. Graphs, textures, shapes, colors and materials have been the starting point of the music produced specifically. The outcome is a subjective sonic experience that allows the listener to observe, listen and embrace the act of wandering through the gallery space.
The overlapping of the visual and sonic worlds and the freedom to roam the space allows for a wide horizon of ways to experience the four pieces of Ornaments, questioning and challenging the listener at every step.
The live version will be presented live 5 times at the Galleries at Bombas Gens between July and December 2017.
